“Continuing to learn and grow is important to me personally as well as professionally; it keeps me engaged in my job and excited about discovering things that may benefit my company and those we serve. The reality is that it can sometimes be challenging to carve out the time, but it’s worth it. So I’m happy to share that this week I officially graduated from the THRIVE Emerging Leaders Reimagined program, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration! This innovative program is an intense six month course that includes in-person, self-paced instruction, mentoring, and classroom time. A bonus was getting to know and learn from some terrific people from other industries who I might otherwise have never met.
THRIVE is designed to accelerate growth and support business expansion. There were thousands of applicants across the country, and each cohort invited 20 leaders to participate. We completed eight modules covering leadership, business planning and development, human resources and company culture, marketing and brand awareness, driving sales, digital marketing and social media strategies, finance and accounting, and legal compliance. Over the course of six months we met regularly with our cohort to review what we had learned and challenge each other to grow. We came from so many different industries including construction, hospitality, physical therapy, healthcare support services, corporate cleaning, consumer goods, and research – and we all learned from each other. It was truly a valuable program and I can’t wait to implement so much of what I have learned!”
