Did you know that Rare Patient Voice is an entirely remote company? Though we communicate with each other throughout the work day over the phone, email, Teams, etc., many of our staff had never met each other in person (even some who have been with RPV for years)! That changed earlier this month with our first ever company retreat. Held in St. Pete Beach, FL, it was a terrific time to meet, bond, and celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary.
The two day meeting began with Founder and President Wes Michael welcoming the group and sharing RPV’s origin story, including what moved him to launch the company in 2013. Team building exercises and a fun personality test followed. We were joined by certified fitness trainer Vanessa Bautista, who spoke about workplace wellness (when our workplace is our home!), the five components of fitness, and the pillars of wellness. Internal communication strategist and speaker Skot Woldron talked to us about the five communication voices, the influence model, and how engagement starts with communication and relationships. On Saturday morning, many of us participated in packing snack bags that were then delivered to a local Ronald McDonald House, a charity that has meant a lot personally to a number of our staffers.
The retreat resulted in learning, laughter, great memories that we will carry back to our home offices – and some fantastic pictures of beautiful St. Pete Beach and our happy group.
