Taking time to think about who we are and where we are going can easily fall by the wayside in our busy lives. But practicing some introspection, goal-setting, and self-care can make a real difference in getting to where we want to be, both personally and professionally. Women in Research (WIRe) is an organization I’m proud to be a part of that champions diversity in the marketing research industry by giving women tools to develop professionally, build connections, and stay inspired. Last week, the 2021 WIRexec Leadership Summit in Sonoma, CA provided me with an incredible opportunity to really look inside and focus on how I want to show up for my family, my team, and myself. In addition to intention-setting, learning about our personality types through Enneagram (I’m a Helper), and connecting through a variety of exercises, we discussed leadership from a place of strength or weakness. We took a deep dive into the part we play in specific challenging situations – do we cause them, encourage them, what do we get out of that and what, if anything, might we do differently. Most importantly, we shared thoughts with other female leaders who supported and challenged us. Most importantly, we shared thoughts with other female leaders who supported us at times and challenged us at times.
WIRe has built a fantastic network of smart, driven, supportive women to help us get to the next level and who we can help to get there too. I returned home feeling rejuvenated and ready to put what I’ve learned into motion, particularly in terms of patient recruitment services.
