“My name is Jamie. I have Asthma, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Trigeminal Neuralgia, and GI issues. At 12, I began to have horrible breathing issues that led to the diagnosis of Asthma. My triggers for this are fire, illness, and cat hair. I have several inhalers for this.
At 18 years-old, I was diagnosed with adult onset Primary Generalized Epilepsy with focal tendencies. OR, my seizure activity usually begins in the front of my brain, but sometimes they may start in a different part of my brain. My biggest triggers are stress and lack of sleep.
I was diagnosed with relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) when I was 24 years old. MS issues that I may experience include numbness, weakness, pins and needles, memory functions, Migraine, vertigo, dizziness and bladder control. I do not use any mobility aide now. My MS medication is an infusion called Ocrevas. This is a newer medication that only needs to be administered twice a year. My biggest triggers are heat and doing too much.
Around the age of thirty, I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia or TN2. This is extreme facial pain. There is no cure. Management for this includes but is not limited to medication and several surgical procedures. I have done all, but am still seeking pain management.
As warriors we have to continue to find ways to thrive.”
